It's probably not the end of the line, she just needs a GOOD overhaul, it doesn't surprise me to hear that it had engine trouble either, PL344 made a dead stick landing in Florida a month or so back, carb trouble so I'm told. The last time 721 was 'restored' was a long time ago and since then it's done a fair few flying hours, when Tony flew her she hadn't been on jacks for retracts the whole time that the Woods family had owned her, they found LOTS of play in every joint when they did finally jack her up and fixed what they could. I chuckle whenever I read the article in WW about this a/c, the 'restoration' couldn't have been very deep as it was completed in a very short space of time, I think the words 'worked on' would be better suited as retoration usually entails at least two years of work for a major rebuild unless they were restoring the paint that is ;)
