Strange jet trails over Norway

Ive recently been travelling Europe and saw something which i think some of you may be able to help identify/expalin.

Whilst travelling between Bodo and Narvik (above artic circle) i saw a jet trail of unusual compositon. It looked like a normal one apart from the perfectly spaced and equally sized rings that were formed around it. Any ideas? the photos won't be back for a while yet. I remember an article featured in aircraft illustrated with a similar image. It as part of their series on Area 51/top secret projects etc etc.

This is straying form the usual board content but i thought i may have some luck here, thanks
