I don't think any warbird faces extinction based on its performance, or at least it shouldn't be. Every warbird had a place and a purpose regardless of wiether they were superior. Citing the example of the Buffalo. Most would agree that this a/c suffered from less than stellar performance but even with that it was thrown into combat. The pilots of these aircraft tried there best with what they had and often died for it. Should these men's deaths not be honored because they flew inferior aircraft? I think aircraft like the Buffalo should be celebrated. They are clear representations of how brave the men were that flew them.
