I?ve searched my memory and the web.
I believe that somewhere I?ve read that the Shackleton could use +25 psi boost in FS as take-off settings from airfields situated at high altitude. I don?t remember if it was with reference to the 58 or the 57/57A though.
To speculate a wee bit, the difference between the 87 and the 88 was that the 87 had an injection carburettor whereas the 88 had an injection pump.
Since the difference between the 57 and the 57A is different types of injection carburettors, could it be possible that the 58 was fitted with an injection pump?
I?ve found most of the information on web sites on tractor pulling and off shore racing. They actually do some research of their engines.
