Sadly, this sounds as if the removal of the airframe did far more damage than the crash. Couldn't the owner just have built new cockpit for an eventual rebirth of this aircraft?
Cutting it up just so it'll fit the back of truck sounds crazy.
: This aircraft was in pretty amazing condition following th
: e crash... it went in flat, and fairly slowly. I have seen
: the photographs which clearly show a small tree poking un

: The aircraft belonged to Bruce Pruett, and from anechdotal
: information I heard he wanted the aircraft off the crash
: site ASAP, so it was cut into sections (sadly fairly small
: ones) and removed to a holding yard. I have seen the pict
: ures of it in the yard, and it seemed to have been cut int
: o chunks that at most two or three people could man-handle
: from the crash site. The owner, Bruce Pruett, has I belie

: re this would be, whom would do the restoration, or what t

:
: Hope this helps.
