The Spanish inquisition was burning people for less, and wasn't it someone you know very well (alledgedly), who one fine Sunday, while a Spitfire was conducting engine tests picked up the phone and said.......

Irate Sunday morning punter. "What the hell is all that bloody noise, do you know it's Sunday morning, how dare you, i shall complain!"
Your mate: Madam if it wasn't for that "bloody noise" I'd be answering this phone in German, good day"
Of course, it is all alleged, and simply may be warbird folklore.......
