Hi all,
Just back from spending Friday on the grounds and observing Saturday's airshow from a favorite spot near the pyro pit.
Spoke with Gerry Beck on Friday. To paraphrase Mr. Beck: "The P-51A project doesn't have a data plate yet, but I'll find one!" He indicated that the only original pieces are the windscreen frame, tail gear, and rudder. I was incorrect in my last post; the tailfeathers are complete, as well as one wing.
I also asked Mr. Howard Pardue about the status of the Bearcat, but he clearly wasn't in a talking mood about it. He's bound and determined to return to Oshkosh with it in '03.
Today's (Saturday's) airshow was a real effort, as light drizzle and a solid overcast (with constantly descending ceiling) made things a real challenge. Severe t-storms are bumping through Wisconsin this evening, but should stay well north of Oshkosh.
Fly safe all,
Dan
