I've talked to Bob Swaddling - ex crew on Cliff's MK923 many a time, both over the phone and via email. And if I recall correctly Cliff never flew her. Bob said that Cliff new that the Spitfire was in safer hands with Jerry.

I'm not sure if Bob is aware of this board but I'll point it out to him and ask him to clarify this for you.
