Hello Linda
Send the web url out to the chaps as you feel fit. Duxford is a premier area in the UK, lots of stuff. Also the RAF base at Hendon sports some really good historic and WWII stuff as well, so if any body is visiting the UK then both stations are a must but also a look into the Imperial War Museum it is worth the effort.. Since we are now in Historic mode again if any one is going over to the UK do visit the Armouries of the Tower of London, makes the comical comparison between a flintlock and a Stealth bomber.
Im still in Jakarta, all is quiet on the eastern front so as to speak, all nice and friendly, not a shred of hostility toward you American Chaps. I went up to Sumatra the other day and passed a local Air Force station, the Gate Guardian was a Sabre, the mark I didn't get, the other day I took a trip to Bali to a geo conference and lo an behold a BT 13 was a Gate Guardian at the local air base. Operating from Bali airport (Denpassar) was a Pink Stearman, ...doing the local flight stuff and all that.
There are a couple of chaps, Ozzies, down here on the historic aviation trail and they are scrubbing around in the jungles of Irian Jaya, New Guinea Sumatra and Java looking for any aircraft resembling a WWII type.. Recently a seismic survey crew in Irian Jaya came across a bunch of Japanese aircraft, left in area, not damaged save for the ravages of time, and quite severe time can be.
Hope to be back in Houston area from 17th June onwards for a period of four weeks only, and look forward to popping in.
Yours sincerely
Peter Irwin
