This reportedly happened Tuesday 25th. I got an e-mail from an individual who was present during the landing. He said that immediately after touchdown the plane's tailwheel began shimmying badly. Shortly thereafter the plane drifted off the runway and came to rest in a cloud of dust. The dust cleared and all that could be seen was the plane's tail in the air.
It looks like it will take a few months to build the jigs required to repair the plane. Howard was on the return flight from the paint shop when the accident took place.
