I tend to agree on the central fuselage section as being the part that makes a plane a specific entity as well. As for the engine being significant or specific to an identity. I don't know if this would be practical. Yes it is a large part of the aircraft but is in essence a disposeble part of the aircraft. Do many warbirds in exsistence even have thier original engines? In cars having the numbers match is significant but is it this way in warbirds? Just curious.
