Well I picked up the recent issue of Aeroplane Monthly today and to my utmost horror, there was an article on the findings of the crash of Marten Sargeant and his spitfire. It absolutely sickens me that the french authorities are blaming Marten for the crash!!! What on earth were the men in the tower doing for two minutes while Marten was struggling to bring an aircraft with a faltering engine down safely. Why did they allow the general public onto a secondary runway?? They figure that this was ok and blame poor Marten for changine his mind when he saw the runway had people on it?
For shame you french lot... Not owning up to your mistakes is one thing but to turn around and put the blame on the deceased pilot is outragous.. This puts a dark cloud over aviation and airshows in france...
