OK... In order of how I rate them..... Which is easy, because it is the order I read them.. In other words if I have started reading one and a new one comes along which one do I read and finish first.. Which takes precedence?

I have given this much thought recently, so that is why this is long.

1. Aeroplane Monthly. Why the quality of the writing, I put this as a broadsheet newspaper quality. I also reckon the news stories are better and they have more 'exclusives'. It is The Times of the Classic Aircraft Magazine game

2. Classic Wings. Graham Orphan already knows why I rate him second. The magazine is great, but only 6 times a year :-{, they have some very good articles though and the occasional world exclusives from Blenhiem in NZ, when you would have expected the bigger and local boys to be in their. E.G Maurice Hammonds Mustang.. I think Flypast even missed this baby of their potential flyers list in the last 12 months. Also, somebody called Dave from New Zealand makes an occasional appearance. I think it is the Economist of the Classic Aircraft Magazine world

3. Flypast: This is not as good as it was (sorry Mr. Ellis if you read this.. I secretly think you do!), it used to be my favourite, and I could not wait for it to turn up each month. I still buy it each month, but it is more picture based than it used to be, and the articles are not so in-depth. I consider it a bit more tabloid now, not as bad as the Sun, more like the Daily Mail. I must state an interest at this point. They did not even consider the fact they did not even interview me for the Assistant Editor Job to cloud my judgement, had they done so I would have said exactly the above....

4. Aircraft Illustrated - Ok, this is more like 'Hello' than a newspaper, all glossy pictures etc, however some of the John Dibbs photos are stunning, and it is worth buying this magazine just for these. The news stories seem to be driven a lot from the Internet, including the old WW site. However, saying that, the occasional exclusive does come up. I am thinking of the report of the goodies in Iran, including a possible 2-seat Hurricane. Well done for that one Mr March...

5. Air Pictorial - Ok occasional article, occasional exclusive.. But more for the number crunchers than warbirds enthusiasts. However, I still enjoy some of the historic articles.. Lets call this the London Gazette of the market

I also get:

Airforces Monthly and Air Enthusiast but these are not really warbirds related. Except that as for research material you can't beat Air Enthusiast..
