Lancaster DV286 update

Hi all,

Last weekend we spent most of the time with Mr Morski, who is the only survivor of Lancaster DV286. Together with a filmcrew of the Polish national TV he was visiting the Netherlands for a documentary on his life. On saturday we spent the day on the IJsselmeer where parts of the wreck was recovered for the cameras. On sunday Mr Morski and his party visited our museum based at Fort Veldhuis. The Polish Consul was also present. TV-crews of Dutch national television were also present and their work was broadcasted the same evening.

It will hopefully be a matter of time before the wreck of the Lancaster will be recovered to be able to confirm the identity DV286 as well as to recover the five still missing aircrew.

At the same time our other investigation into the crash of the very first Stirling to crash on Dutch soil, N3654 of 15 squadron which came down during the night of May 10th 1941 has got a considerable boost. Last week it was stated by the local authorities of the town of Opmeer where the aircraft came down, that for the year 2003 an amount of euro 40.000,-- has been reserved for the recovery of this aircraft of which six of the crew are still missing.

Things really start to happen here.

Cees
