Based in experiences in Central America, even civilian owned "spam cans" can become warbirds.
In El Salvador, Ag planes were armed with .30 cal mgs.
In Guatemala, Cessna 182, 206, Baron 55/58 and other, were used for military support purposes, and some of them, saw action.
My definition would be: any aircraft that has taken part in any type of military operation, qualifies as a warbird.
Just my dos centavos worth.
