An emotional meeting

Hi all,

Yesterday I had the privilege to meet Mr Bogoslav Morski. He is the only survivor of Lancaster DV286 which crashed into the IJsselmeer during the night of June 12/13th.

The wreck was found by fishermen who have an interest in WWII aircraft wrecks in the IJsselmeer. The identity of the wreck was established by our organisation as being DV286 of 300 Squadron, but only for 99,99 %. Ever since we came in contact with Mr Morski we are trying to have the wreck recovered, and to give the five missing crewmembers still in the wreckage a decent burial, which is an ongoing process for four years now given the known policy of the Dutch Government.

It is very impressive to stand next to a man who has had to experience being shot down and bail out as the only survivor of a crew of seven.

Let's hope that his visit and the Polish TV-crew who came with him to make a documentary about this case will speed up things to have the wreck finally recovered.

Cees
