I have to say it does give you quite a bit of satisfaction. A friend of mine once said that when his kids do something he's proud of he has a smug Blue Peter moment; "And here's one I prepared earlier..." :)

: A man after my own heart Steve!!! When my daughter was fo
: ur, she could identify aircraft at the RAFM better than a
: annoying 11 year old who said a He111 was a Flying Fortres
: s!! She too asked about crosses...so I told her that they
: were flown by the 'naughty Germans' and that the roundels
: were the good guys (no offence intended for our German fri
: ends). After that, whenever she saw any damage or anyone b
: eing naughty she thought they were 'naughty Germans'. Anyw
: ay, having dug a nice big hole for myself, I obviously tri
: ed to tell her that the Germans are no longer naughty and
: are now our friends. Worked a treat....until....I took her
: to Southampton, walked past the ruins of the sailors chur
: ch. Mk 1 daughter asks...'why is that damaged?' answer bec
: ause it was bombed states I....'who bombed it?' came her r
: eply...well you can guess the rest!
:
: Glad to say now she is a well balanced 9 year old who has
: an excellent knowledge of recent history, a love of aircra
: ft and a respect for veterans (especially her PBY, U Boat
: sinking great grandad who sadly never met her). She also k
: nows that the Germans are our friends now!!
:
: Oh yes, both Mk 1 & Mk 2 daughters adore aircraft, sit in
: cockpits whenever they can, had radio control cars and Sca

: ke planes!!

: : : what about Halifaxes?

: :
: : He's also got quite a good grasp of the European Air War

: : A couple of months ago, we saw Black Six sitting under S

: s
