Hi all,

The following text was kindly provided by Roger Soupart:

The Spanisch Aviation and Space Museum, based at Cuatre Vientos near Madrid, broke news that several historic aircraft have been found under water. It is understood that the airframes, of which some are in a remarcable good condition, may be raised. Among the wrecks are several Savoia?s ( believed to be S.M. 97's) , a Messerschmitt Me-109, a Policarpov R-Z ?Natacha? biplane and a Junkers 89. The Ju-89 was a very large four engined transport plane, of which only a handfull were produced. Maybe the type mentioned is a mistake, so it can also be a Ju-87 ?Stuka? or a Ju-88. Most inportant find however are several Dornier Wal flying boats. Only one original Wal survives in Argentina, so this rare find may bring back some of these large flying boats with their all metal fuselages. The aircraft were found by a company thar charts the seabottem. It is understood that the aircraft will be raised ?on request? , which means that a lot of hard cash will be asked for them.

In a swamp near the airport of Barcelona, an early model ME-109 was recently located. As it crash place was in a swamp, within the airport boundery, it is believed that it hasn?t been touched since it crash ( during the civil war ?). Plans are now underway to raise the aircraft.
