Methanol is a derivative of fermented corn and is very poor fuel. It is lots of volume for low amounts of HP. Yes the racecars go fast, but they carry large amounts of fuel. A mustang could mot duplicate Bleriot's Channel flight with meth...
F1 fuels are secret and very powerful and are expensive. There is no need for such fuel and nor is there a similarity in application. F1 williams revs are 17,800 peak with unknow combustion properties. Avgas probably wouldnt allow their engines to run for a variety of reasons.

Private fuel independants will probably produce fuel for warbirds but at a heavy environmental cost and tax. Fuel for aircraft must be stable over time and leave no deposits. The autogas STC has no place in heavy Iron and cutting autogas with a high perf fuel like Shell's Triptane 200/300 will not get you past the deposit/decomposition issue. The EAA has produced a lot of literature on the fuel issue.
