Hi Rob--
What is a "Canadian Nord trainer"? You've got me fascinated with that one. (Ex-RCAF NAA Yales, maybe, which
the original French buyers referred to as "Nords" which was a contracted translation of North American?)
The Hurricanes would have been the fruit of one of Mr Tallichet's salvage expeditions in Canada, no doubt. Wonder where they are now. The Blenheim would've been as well--one of the Canadian-built Bolingbroke trainer variants he recovered, at least one of which used to be stored in the open at Chino.
: In the lot behind the station was a PBY Catalina, UH-1 Huey, the sparse remains of four Hawker Hurricanes, seven disassembled Canadian Nord trainers, a partially restored Blenheim, and a TBM! It was a treasure trove out in the middle of nowhere.
Sounds like a dream sequence from a movie! (Actually I had a daft dream like that once...found six P-47s crammed into a backyard on a highway about three miles from home...Went by the spot for real, needless to say there was nary a Jug to be found!)
Cheers
Steve
