Dambusters Remake

I seem to remember a rumour a little while ago about Hollywood remaking the Dambusters with Mel Gibson ear marked for the lead role. Was it true and if so what is happening?

Knowing the recent crop of Hollywood "Historical" war films, it will be made with B17's a dog called snowie, ending with Gibson returning home on on engine, with no wings ,half the crew killed including his best friend who had to climb into the bomb bay to release the weapon and was last seen singing old glory as he bounced down the Greater Manchester Canal, in the meantime Gibson returns to base to get the girl that they had both been fighting over ;~)
