Lee was looking for some information regarding a former USN Avenger. Hopefully this will help.
If you are looking for historical information regarding former US Navy aircraft try this website...
http://www.history.navy.mil/index.html
They indicate they don't take inquiries by email, but rather by snail mail at the following address...
NAVAL HISTORICAL CENTER
Washington Navy Yard
805 Kidder Breese Street SE
Washington Navy Yard, DC 20374-5060
I made an inquiry once before regarding a former USN Dakota. They sent me photo copies of the record cards which were quite informative.
If you are looking for information regarding form USAF aircraft a good place to start is...
http://www.maxwell.af.mil/au/afhra/about.html
And if you are looking for information regarding former RCAF/CAF aircraft you can contact the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa. Their website is...
http://www.aviation.nmstc.ca
...and their general inquiries email address is...
aviation@nmstc.ca
...if you send an email to that address asking about a particular aircraft it will likely be redirected to the library. A library assistant was able to scan and email the record cards of a CF-100 for me.
I hope someone finds this info of use.
Regards,
Mike
