Its a sorry state of affairs when a national collection won't allow an enthusiast to take a closer look at one of their exhibits.

If the Halifax has a problem with radiation, why did they bring it up in the first place? More to the point, why can people walk right up to it, as surely that is as dangerous. Radiation isn't just restricted to a couple of inches from the skin of the aircraft.

Where did the radiation come from? A secret mission to nuke the Tirpitz??!!

Sounds to me like nobody wants to spare the time to show you around her, but you can guarantee if it was a TV company asking, everybody and their dog would be showing them round it.

We ought to tell the environmental "Friends of the Earth" type bods about this. One of them up here where I live did the "German Giants" Dornier documentary so he would love this story. And maybe he could get a TV bunch to get a real good look.

They need more people like Ms Williams at the IWM and less of the negative attitude towards the general public.

Cheers
Richard
