Just walked in the door after getting home from a very lovely return of the airshow put on by the Minter Field Air Museum at Shafter, 12 miles north of Bakersfield, 120 miles north of Los Angeles. While the show didn't have as many aircraft as in years past, there was a lot of flying, Got to see some great high speed passes by Destefani's Strega, 8 Mustangs doing flybys in pairs of twos and single passes, Al Hansens F-86 Sabre, Brian Sanders in TG-114 Sea Fury, Dick Bertea's F7F and Chuck Wentworth's TBM, Ron Hevle's Howard Lodestar, the first stateside Jet Provost I've ever seen, a Fouga Magister, Fiesler Storch, BT-13s and T-6s including Reno vets' Warlock and Eddie Van Fossen's Miss TNT. It was such a nice way to spend a day, at a location I always enjoyed coming to for many years. I think everyone really missed this show and it felt so good to have it back again after no shows from 98-2001. Let's hope it continues on again.
P-51D's included :
