Just noticed this on worldairforces.com :-
Supermarine Spitfire 9b {F} 48/ *x
" " LF.9e " 48/55 mostcd *xPD
" " HF.9Trop 51/52 c50d83
" " LF.16 48/55 50d
" " F.22?
Now it's bad enough that Spitfire Mk XVI's are still being listed as being used by Israel.....but Mk 22's....never!
They may well have captured one or two from Syria or Egypt, or even one or two ex Rhodesian examples en-route to Syria, but I have never seen any reference anywhere to Israel having any at any time.
If they did, then they certainly didn't come from Britain.....not unless 73 Sqn on Malta, or the RAF erks or Malteser scrappy tasked with their scrapping after service, disposed of theirs' on the Black Market in Israel!!!!
What does anyone else know?
Cheers
Mick
PS; And NO Tony ,I'm not thinking that the Infamous Syrian Spitfires ended up in Israel......but at least an Israeli is talking to you anyway, so they would probably be easier to get out of Israel than Syria ????!!!!!! :-)
