Hi Mick,

I guess the main reason not much gets heard about X7688 is that she?s privately owned, and her restoration is progressing as and when time and resource allows. Out of respect for that privacy, I?m not sure I?d want to go into a lot of depth about the restoration without talking to the owner first. Please don?t take that as being obstructive, it?s just that it?s not really in my remit to talk about it in any depth, and in any case, my technical knowledge is quite limited anyway. However, there was a very good article about Skysport in the August 2000 issue of Aeroplane Monthly, which went into a lot of depth about the type of work Skysport do, and the extremely high standards they work to.

As regards availability of parts, I think it?s fair to say that warbird parts in general are always difficult to find, especially those for the more rare types.

One thing I have noticed while I?ve been involved, is that the restoration community as a whole seems to be quite keen on mutual help when it comes to parts and reference information. Working in a commercial environment during the working week, this makes quite a nice change! :)
