Dan Ford, the man who has been tracking this bird, posted this on his Warbirds forum web site

"In a recent Commerce Business Daily issue, the Navy was advertising to negotiate a contract to trade 3 "stricken" P-3 Orions stored in the Arizona desert for a Brewster Buffalo on behalf of the NMNA.... Guess the owner of the FinnBuf can sell the P-3's and get his $ that way."

"I called the contract officer in Philadelphia this morning, and he confirmed that the Buffalo in question is BW-372, recovered from a lake in Russian Karelia in September 1998. As far as he knows, the plane is still in Ireland, and it still belongs to the Millenium corporation, meaning the banker and entrepreneur Michael Ryan who emerged as the plane's owner soon after it was spirited out of Russia. "There are issues to be worked through," the contract officer said--very tactfully, I thought. So it's not a done deal, though it seems to be a promising one."
