...... not radar. As I understand it and remember from physics classes, sound is scattered and reflected in different ways depending on the frequency (or wave length) of the pulse transmitted. The wave length must be chosen considering the size of the object and the resolution you want.
People living in apartment buildings are often disturbed by theit neighbours playing loud music but, what they hear is the low frequencies only, bass and some of the mid range but not treble. The size of the walls resound and transmit the lower frequencies but put you in the shadow of the higher frequencies.
So, I believe that sidescan sonar produce "shadows", and how wrong am I on a scale?
