: Ok boys and girls,
: 1. I think there is no doubt, that the drawings exist, or substantial parts thereof..

2. On the case now

3. Phil has said yes........

4. There is some work already happening on this, Tom and Paul Mac are actively looking for locations, and have identified one in particular, which looks very exciting. Typhoon Dave has had a very interesting nibble, and we know, that there are peregrines extant.

5. Good point, and one of the reasons why we are basing the rebuild at Phils.

6. I had a loose convo with Bruce at RAFM Cosford about 4 weeks ago, and there is interest.

At this point however, we do need input from the experienced wreckhounds.... Dave/Cees/Tony Dyer as to the ups and downs, of trying to assemble all the bits etc. I have no doubts, in my ability to "blag" the bits, but someone has to tell me where they are!

I like the sound of a commitee, however, lets make it one, with a rudder, as opposed to a chinese parliament. Therefore, a timetable needs to be worked out, and a decision made, as to which bits need to be got first, before we can declare the project a go-er, and decide to start committing financial resources in depth to it

: We all want to build a static reproduction/replica (no top
: ics please) full scale Whirlwind. It is nice to talk about
: it etc. But you have to start somewhere to get things mov
: ing.
:
: Shall we start by making some sort of planning and delegat
: e some of the tasks needed to do this right?
:
: Several of us have already volunteered with knowledge, han
: ds on experience etc.
:
: IMHO we need the following:
:
: 1. Definitive proof that any drawings still exist. If not
:
: then selecting the best of scale drawings available.
: 2. The copy of the AP on the Whirlwind as recently
: offered.
: 3. Space to be able to build this baby and store anything
:
: related to this project (Phil?)
: 4. Start looking for any substantial remains (engines,
: landinggear, windshield etc,) which could give this
: project some body. Or contact groups/individuals who
: have excavated Whirlwinds in the past.
: 5. Gathering all sorts of equipment needed to fit it out.
: 6. Dare I say, approaching organisations like RAFM to see
:
: if there are possibilities in cooperation and eventual
:
: display of the end result (what better place than RAFM)
:
:
: Of cours this is only my opinion, what's yours?
:
: Let me know and let's get things moving.
