Although I haven't been to the Autumn Air Show at the Duckpond for a few years now, I always found it one of the best to go to even though there are much less planes flying.
The weather has never really bothered me much, and I recall that most of the Autumn shows I went to , had very good weather,or reasonable for the time of year anyway.

I still remember the time I drove 80 miles to Duxford in almost total fog all the way for an Autumn show, thinking that nothing will fly in this weather, and lo and behold, as soon as I neared Duxford on the M11, I could see that the sun was shining and there was no fog actually over the airfield itself, but everywhere else, and it cleared up lovely by the time the show started!
Spoooookyyyyy!!!
Was I relieved....and the wife and kids!
A MIRACLE I thought, or was it all the heat from the concentration of hot cars, hot people and luke-warm burger stalls......or had Duxford finally installed under-runway heating and "Fido" pipes along it?

I prefer, and so do my family, the smaller shows like that with not too many people, and a bit cooler like it is in October, even if I only see a few warbirds flying.
The time doesn't seem to go so fast, and you can look at the stuff in the hangers for longer....I always miss something in the hangers at the bigger shows.
I find it much more enjoyable, and much easier to concentrate on the actual display, I have seen some of my most favourite individual display routines at the smaller, more "personal" displays.
I wish there was more of them like that to go to, the big shows just wear me out....and I always come home with a headache after squinting into the sun all day long!

Cheers
Mick
