To ensure the continuing structural integrity of these airplanes, accomplish the following:

A. Within one year after the effective date of this AD, incorporate a revision into the FAA-approved maintenance inspection program which provides for inspection of the Principal Structural Elements (PSE) defined in Chapter I, Section 6, and Chapter III of McDonnell Douglas Corporation, Report No. L26-013, "DC-3 Supplemental Inspection Document (SID)," Revision 1, dated January 1990. The non-destructive inspection techniques set forth in the SID provide acceptable methods of accomplishing the inspections required by this AD. All inspection results (negative or positive) must be reported to McDonnell Douglas Corporation, in accordance with the instructions of the SID.

B. Cracked structure detected during the inspection required by paragraph A., above, must be repaired or replaced, prior to further flight, in accordance with instructions in the SID.

: Has anyone got practical experience with these? They are
: older than the B-52's and there are quite a few of them
: still flying, of which presumably very few have been
: subjected to the in-depth restoration that many other
: aircraft have. I don't think I've ever heard of fatigue
: problems with Dakotas.
