All said, you can't hold it against the guy for being wealty. People don't BECOME wealthy by making a practice out of giving things away for free ;)
I doubt he's trying to make his money back on the collection, but being that the museum is only open 8 hours a week, I figure he'll make enough to cover the collection's operational expenses. It's fine to spend a controlled amount of cash to build up a nice collection, but no businessman (regardless of wealth) would let such a substantial financial hemmorage bleed out without finding some way to make at least a token return on his investment. It is a bit pricey for a visit, but I can't say that I wouldn't pay it if I found myself in the area.
