Hi Brad,
Welcome to DC! There's a good deal of interesting stuff in the area. There is of course a Hellcat at Andrews, as I hope that you have found already.

The Washington Navy Yard (http://www.history.navy.mil/nhc8.htm) has an interesting museum (Annacostia... a bit of a dodgy area, so go with caution). There is a corsair hanging from the ceiling there, and may be a few other airframes too, but not sure).

The Quantico Museum (http://users.erols.com/hyattg/usmcguns/usmcvols.htm)is officially closed, but you might be able to get permission for a private visit from the curator, Michael Starn.

College Park, MD (exit 26 on I495) has the US's (worlds?) oldest continually active airfield. There is a small, but interesting museum there dedicated to early flight. They have several interesting aircraft there from the first two decades of powered aviation.

A two hour drive down I-95 to Richmond will find you the Virginia Aviation Museum (http://www.vam.smv.org/). They have a pretty large and eclectic collection of airframes. Everything from an SR-71 to a Curtiss Jenny.

If you can afford a five hour drive to Virginia Beach, there is the Gerry Yagen's impressive collection (http://www.tidetech.com/fighterfactory/). Nearby, at Hampton Roads, is the Virginia Air & Space Center (http://www.vasc.org/). Very cool museum, with IMAX, and several very important artifacts.

Hope this helps. If you need anything, let me know.

Cheers and have fun.

Richard
