To add to the already comprehensive answers, down near Dover there is the Battle of Britain memorial at Capel Le Ferne. (Not to be confused with the Battle of Briatin Memorial Flight, who are based at RAF Coningsby, some 200 miles to the north!)
Only one psuedo-airframe at Capel Le Ferne, a Hawker Hurricane full size model, but the memorial site itself is quite serene and thought provoking, especially with the statue of one of The Few sitting staring out over the Channel...
