Flying Leatherneck Museum/Miramar

I just returned from San Diego where I was checking up on an elderly relative of mine. While I was there I paid a visit to the Flying Leatherneck Museum at Miramar. I was a bit disappointed because the Wildcat and the Avenger have been removed from public display. It seems the US Navy was upset that the Wildcat was sitting outside where it is exposed to the elements so it has been placed in storage pending the construction of a new museum building. The Avenger has been removed for some restoration work before being moved the the USS Midway Museum now being readied in San Diego Harbor.
