The ex- Tim Wallis Spitfire XIV is under restoration at Avspecs in New Zealand. It's being worked on slowly as resources permit. The fuselage aft of the firewall is completely rebuilt as is one wing. Still to be redone are the second wing and everything firewall forward. It should be several years before this plane flies. The owner is an American from Las Vegas, Nevada so I guess it may eventually end up there.

Avspecs are also rebuilding Spitfire XVI TB252 for Banta Aviation from the San Francisco, California area. This plane had been under rebuild at Historic Flying but work was stopped when HFL was sold to the new owner. It's being rebuilt 100% stock and should be one of the best Spitfires flying when finished. Currently they are rebuilding the wings complete with new spars. The estimated completion time is May 2005. Once finished it will return to California.

I recently saw both aircraft and the work is first class.
