I can see some justification in people carrying arms but I cannot see why children can have access to them so easily.
The constitution has the right to bear arms enshrined into it but did they really forsee the availability of the assault rifle? Since 1987 in the U.K the assault rifle has been banned and laterly ownership of handguns. Whilst the has still been an increase in gun crime this has largely been in the hands of drug dealers and not children.
Whilst some children might see an empowerment in the use of guns - maybe groups like the NRA should seek to channel more of their effort into safe use of weapons and actually helping to reduce the availability of some types
which are undesirable.
Certainly the fault lies with the children - however if you put temptation in front of children they are bound to try it.
