From what I've read this aircraft was built by Grumman for one of their representatives, Roger Kahn I believe. The airplane was used by Kahn for traveling from base to base where the new Grumman jets were being worked up to operational status. I believe that G-58 was Grumman's designation for the Bearcat, at least those built for civil use. The b probably refers to this being the second unarmed Bearcat built by Grumman for the civel register, the other being Al William's Gulfhawk IV of course. The airplane is still with Bob Pond at his Palm Springs Air Museum and is now in a dark blue military scheme which replaced the bronze that had first been put on the bird during the Fornoff's ownership. Regards, Chad.
